Canvas Catalog is the tool used by departments who wish to offer online educational courses to non-matriculated students ("Continuing Education" or "non-degree" students) who aren"t enrolled in a degree-earning program. Current students may also register for courses in Canvas Catalog for continuing education or non-degree related purposes, but those courses will not be available on official or unofficial transcripts from Thomas Jefferson University. Canvas Catalog cannot be used as a sign-up list, to sell merchandise, or for online courses targeting current Jefferson students. Is Canvas Catalog the same as Canvas? No, Canvas Catalog and Canvas are NOT the same thing. Canvas, Jefferson"s learning management system is used for educational courses to matriculated students (students enrolled in degree-earning programs). Canvas Catalog is used for online courses for non-degree students and/or continuing education programs. How do I log in to Canvas Catalog? Visit https://jefferson.catalog.instructure.com to register for a course, to access a course, or to view certificates for completed courses. What username and password do I use with Canvas Catalog? When you first register for a course in Canvas Catalog, create a username based on the email address you used to register for the course. An email will be sent to you with a link to set your password. NOTE: If you are an existing Jefferson employee or student, please use your Campus Key and log into your existing Canvas account. Where can I get help? For course help: Contact the department offering the course to get help with or ask questions about the course, course policies, payment information, refunds, or anything related to specific courses or programs. What happens when I finish a course? Students who meet all of the completion criteria set for each of the course modules will be listed as having completed the course. Upon completion, students can download or print the certificate of completion that includes the student"s name, date of completion, and the course name. In some courses, CEU credit will be issued. What is CEU credit? One Continuing Education Credit (CEU) equals ten (10) contact hours of learner interaction with the content of the learning activity, which includes classroom, self-paced instruction, pre/post assignments, and/or homework in support of a learning outcome. But how do you calculate the number of CEUs for a learning event? A contact hour is one clock hour of interaction between a learner and instructor, or between a learner and materials, which have been prepared to cause learning. Contact implies a connection between a learner and a learning source. Can I get a refund? Students who register for a paid course but do not open the course or begin any course-work within the course are eligible for a refund at the discretion of the department offering the course. Students seeking a refund must contact the department offering the course to begin the process.
